Attraction Towers, DNA XP leveling, and online leaderboard — big update
Greetings Operators,
Been a busy few days! Here's what landed since the last release 3 days ago:
DNA XP + CPU Upgrades. Zombies now drop XP dna that magnet into your operator's robot. When you level up you get a CLAIRE CPU Upgrade picker — three card choices with rarity tiers and reroll charges. The XP curve is done so that you're getting more level-ups per wave as the game goes on (~2 early, ~5 by wave 20). There's a DNA helix confetti effect on level-up, rarity-colored cards with shimmer on epic/legendary, the whole thing. I hope you will like it as it dramatically changes the game and it's the first brick of Roguelite elements!
Attraction Tower replaces the old chest. You feed it coal and copper, and it collects DNA XP remotely from nearby kills. You can also deploy up to 2 nodes from the inspect panel to extend its pickup range, so you're not forced to run everywhere on the map.
Online Leaderboard is live. Submit your run with a nickname, compare Time, ZPS, Wave, Belts, and Kills. Each run is tracked separately so multiple attempts all show up.
Other stuff worth mentioning:
- Pause menu has Restart and Abandon options, main menu has Quit and keyboard nav
- Turrets show lifetime kills in their inspect panel
- HP bar moved to bottom-left near the hotbar where you can actually see it during combat
- A bunch of bug fixes around saves, leaderboard API, and XP bar consistency
